This festival holds profound significance for devotees, requiring meticulous attention to detail during the puja. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
1. Devotees fasting should rise early, take a purifying bath, and don new clothes.
2. If near a river, taking a dip is ideal; otherwise, using Ganga Jal in a bucket suffices.
3. Women prepare for the puja after bathing.
4. Decorate a bamboo winnow and basket, preferably in red.
5. Wash and place fruits and vegetables in the winnow and basket.
6. Cover the basket with a red cloth to keep its contents hidden.
7. Visit a riverbank or create a water tub at home.
8. Pray for family health, wealth, and prosperity, offering the basket to the Goddess.
9. Offer prayers to the setting Sun.
10. After evening prayers, prepare for the next day’s puja.
